Creating a website/blog for trend reports

I wanted to create a fashion blog to showcase some of my creations of garments I have made and also show some of the trends that were popular of that particular season. I wass't sure initally how to go about producing a professional looking blog therefore I took to google to research on how I could go about this. I typed into the search engine 'google' websites that help with making a  blog. A few different options came up however I decided upon the website shown below called 'WIX'.

I decided to choose this website as it looked reliable and took you through the steps accordingly. It looked relatively easy enough to follow the on screen instructions to creating a unique and custom designed blog/website of your very own.
Wix gave you many different templates to choose from as shown in the screengrab below. There was many different kinds of templates ranging from business templates to event templates that all had different lay plans and themes. These templates would either be free or have a cost of a little amount of money that was very affordable.
After choosing a particular theme of template. Wix then took you to the Editor where yopu could begin to work on the design and content of your blog. I decided upon the theme of 'fashion photographer' as I liked the way it showcased the photos and content.  The editor had many different tools such as a paint pot which helped you to design the page background. It also gave you an option for 'mobile design' which would let your audience access your blog from their android phones.

For each slide you are able to add links that you can click on and it would take you to whatever html you attached to it. You were also able to attach different app links suchs as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook etc. However I decided not to do this as I was only really experimenting and did not want to attach any personal links as of yet.

The graphics of the Wix website are really professional such as this screengrab shown below of a graphic human hand holding your finished product of your blog/website. I think this looks really appealing to a designer as it gives us an insight to what our blog will look like to our audience.

Evaluation
I really love how my fashion website/blog turned out, as I achieved all the content I wished to put in and was also able to put in a couple of pages about different trends. My front page looked really professional I thought, although I chose to use pictures that I had sourced from google. However photoshopped them slightly to enhance the quality of each one. I loved the way they transitioned smoothly. this made it look very professional and slick.

My trend pages I thought looked well with the layout factor, however looking back I could have included links to fashion runways showcasing these particular trends or links to the fashion designers that inspired them.

My last page which was my fashion blog turned out really well in my opinion. Producing each blog post was really easy however when I attached the photos there wasn't any really option to rotate them or edit them to any great degree which was annoying but nonetheless I found no massive problem with producing a decent blog post.

Overall I found the website Wix a great tool to understand all the factors of the design of a website and an insight of all the work that goes into making a website. I obviously know that the most professional website as the URL has '.wix.com' and their is pop up adverts on the blog website, but this was half expected. I know that if I wanted to create a high end fashion blog I would have to go into buying a website URL of my own and certain tools to design it. I enjoyed playing around with the different tools and templates to create a rookie trend blog.
